Proof I watch things that aren’t politics. Cozy plots, wild theories, and one (1) dinosaur-level squeal about the Muppets.
Finale day! (Well, added at midnight, so “today.”) I thought it tied things up nicely.
The early-series hint that MΓ‘ximo might go full egocentric doesn’t really resurface until the end,
where they soften him into someone more lovable. For me: it worked, even if the beat landed late.
Haven’t watched the newest ep yet—my mom and I will watch together tomorrow!—but I do have a (very unserious) theory.
My current guess: roulette-table code “6-24-00” is the birthday of the youngest son of the victim, Braden.
Also: they found a finger (!!!) and it likely connects to Logan Lerman’s character (who is missing one).
Renee Zellweger is in this season too, plus another face I need to look up. I’ll report back after I watch.
Friday = episode 3, “Howdy with a Trance of Gumballs.” The tag last week teased Freya Skye (likely recurring).
This one’s set over the summer; I’m guessing the next ep jumps into the school year.
Then “Don’t Go Changeling My Heart” brings back Mr. Laritate—curious if he’s the new principal at Greenwald middle after Justin's appointment to the Wizard Council.
I’m in! The first two episodes are pretty good. I wish they’d saved the “crush is a Van Helsing” reveal for later—it hits early in ep 1.
Casting note: a 12-year-old playing 14 is unconventional, but Jiwon Lee as Sophie is a sweet counterweight to Vee, and their friend chemistry works.
As of today on Disney+, I’m seeing 13 episodes—four more than previously aired—so the streaming drop is ahead of broadcast.
One episode even aired early (meant for October). I’ll keep an eye on what drops next.
Phill Lewis has an episode in the batch and I’m thrilled. A lot of us grew up with him on
The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, and he’s a rock-solid sitcom director (including a dozen eps of the iCarly revival).
Lots of folks—Ben Stiller, MSNBC's Chris Hayes, California Governor Gavin Newsom, standup comic and star of Peacock's The Paper Alex Edelman—are calling the Kimmel/ABC/FCC saga what it is:
dangerous, and not how this should work. I’m glad people are speaking up. And also: joy matters. Let’s keep watching things that make us happy.
